The Imagination Games is a project which celebrates and promotes adult scaffolding of imaginative play in children. Imaginative (or pretend) play is the well-spring of self-regulation, which lies at the heart of life success. Self-regulation is the skill-set which enables children to build and maintain relationships, cope with stress, set goals and persevere.
The games themselves begin in first term in schools in the Murchison area of West Australia. The concept has been rapidly incorporated by schools, for example, one school will be using it as an early years community outreach and another is rethinking their implementation of the early years curriculum to place imaginative play at its heart.
